Why families use HomeHire instead of a Facebook group
One place to post, see real profiles, read reviews from real hires, and message only people who are interested. No scrolling through comment threads.
Free for families until January 2027, and candidates never pay.
Choose the way of hiring that fits your family
Groups, personal introductions and agencies can all help. The difference is how much organizing you want to do yourself. Group rules, referrals and agency services vary; this is a practical comparison, not a promise about every provider.
| What matters | Facebook groups | Friend referrals | Agencies | HomeHire |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ease of finding people | Search posts and follow comment threads | Ask your network and follow up individually | An agency may manage the search | Post once and review relevant structured profiles in one place |
| Structured profiles | Information varies by post | Ask each person for their experience and availability | Depends on the agency | Roles, experience, location and availability together |
| Privacy of your details | Depends on group visibility and what you share | Details pass through your personal network | Depends on the agency’s process | Private briefs by default; public listings need your explicit opt-in |
| Who can message you | Depends on Facebook and group settings | People introduced through your network | Depends on the agency | Mutual interest only |
| Reviews after a hire | Comments or recommendations, depending on the group | Your friend’s personal experience | Depends on the agency | Two-way reviews — families and candidates review each other after a confirmed hire |
| Cost | Free | Free | Agency fees | Free for families until January 2027, and candidates never pay. |
| Payroll | Arrange separately | Arrange separately | Ask what is included | Payroll through our partner |
How reviews work
Both sides deserve useful feedback. After a confirmed hire and work start, the family and candidate can each review their experience of working together.
After a hire has a confirmed work start, both the family and the candidate can leave a review within 30 days of the start date. Reviews are moderated before publication. The blind period ends when both sides submit, or 14 days after the first review; each review still needs approval. Reporting that you have agreed a hire does not by itself unlock reviews.
There are no sample reviews here. Reviews shown in the product come from eligible participants and are subject to moderation; not every profile will have reviews.
When a friend’s recommendation is best, and when HomeHire helps
A trusted friend who knows your household and has worked with someone can offer context that a profile cannot. If that person is available and the role fits, a personal recommendation may be all you need.
HomeHire helps when you hire often, have moved to a new area, or your network has run dry. Compare experience and availability in one place, express interest, and start a conversation when the interest is mutual.
You hire directly
HomeHire is a marketplace, not an agency. Families choose whom to hire, agree the work and pay directly, and remain the employer. There are no agency fees.
Free for families until January 2027, and candidates never pay.
Worker pay and employer costs are separate. Payroll support is through our partner; confirm availability and arrangements before relying on a payroll service. HomeHire does not run payroll.
